About Me

Carley Vande Ryt is currently a senior at Columbus College of Art & Design pursuing a BFA in Illustration with a minor in Comics and Narrative Practice. She’s expected to graduate in 2025. Carley was awarded the CCAD Discovery District Scholarship upon attending CCAD. Her inspirations and art styles come from the different mediums of cartoons around the globe. Using inspiration from Western media to Eastern Asian entertainment, she wants to grow her style and her knowledge of different cultures to diversify her professional abilities and improve as a better individual. Upon graduating from CCAD, she intends to create her first comic series containing her passion project, Mystical Unity.

She’s an artist who takes risks, taking inspiration from many mediums, genres, and styles to improve her style. Her work draws from Eastern design, typography, layout, and techniques, along with her Western culture, experience, and storytelling. She creates pieces that would have never been shown to Western audiences in earlier decades. These ideas were childhood inspirations, experiences, and interests that have continued to inspire and improve her work over time.

Experimenting with different materials, such as digital software and traditional techniques, aids her to find the best way to improve as an artist. Carley believes that studying and mastering these types of mediums are beneficial to entertain, inspire, and educate her and her fellow artists toward the future of visual storytelling.
